Hi KK!
Finally a chance to thank you for all your great narratives. I have been printing them in a large font for Alice. Tomorrow I hope to take a copy to Mrs. VanDyke. The last time I was there her husband said she was resting.
As you know, Tom and Pat got to go back to Bethel for 2 more weeks. They’ll be back for a Sunday AM only and then moving to mizoooree. Gene and I hope to visit them in the spring for their SAD because their District Overseer is Joe Mazacek.
After the meeting Sunday while everyone was visiting, Travis was playing with Abbey and lifting her up in the air. Unfortuanately he did not notice that he was standing under the header between the lobby and coatroom. CRACK! went abbeys head! It was so loud it really startled us. She bawled of course, got an ‘egg’ right away. She was Ok, altho it sure sounded like her skull cracked. Homeopathy took care of the egg.
At Ucellos last Thursday your father was in his usual form of regaling everyone and generally being the center of attention (it was me and Gene, Liz and Casey and Jeremy and Steph). He was merciless in teasing Liz about Ron Miller being her boyfriend. Of course Jeremy and Casey chimed in. Liz took it pretty well. I believe your father has AGD – “Attention Getting Disorder”. Give him a beer and a pizza and he can go on for hours.
At Pine Rest we had a boy admitted from the Congo. He speaks English, French, Swahili (congo), and Kiswahili(congo). I am going to order a couple of brochures for him in Swahili. I don’t know much about him but he has had a very tragic life, losing family members in civil war etc. A person who was spozed to ‘adopt’ him left him at the airport in Nairobi. I hope I can give the literature to him.
Did people watch the Superbowl there? I guess it was a quite exciting game. I haven’t had a chance yet to see how the SB party went at the Fifelskis.
Richard Boice is going over the questions for baptism.
Dick Clark was the reader for the JD book last week. He couldn’t get himself to say Hezekiah…it came out Hegekiah. Then he said “the prophet Jeremy”. Later Jeremy told me that now I have to listen to him because he is a prophet. Ha!
Jake Clevenger gave his first 4th (3rd?) student talk. It was the one on God’s name. He said, “You could call your wife ‘woman’, or ‘wife’. See how far that gets ‘ya”. It was cute – he did a great job.
Your Gramps did great with his surgery as you likely know. Came home the next day. Was at the meeting Thursday.
Well, thanks again for all the great news. You will not be the same person after this experience. In addition to developing travel ’saavy’, it will change your outlook on life and the relative importance of relationships, possessions, and many other things. I remember what an impact it had on us to be in Poland (twenty years ago), and that was for only a week. You will have so much to share – I can’t wait. I pray for you every day. Please be careful and use your good sense.
Also, do not tell anyone that I have written because it will destroy my long and hard-earned reputation for not corresponding!
LOVE,
Lin
P.S. I think you should bring home a baggie of sand and shells for your sister, who, by the way, is reveling in being the ‘only child’.
